In recent years, as a major measure for higher education reform in our country, the independent colleges have adapt to development needs and gradually have become an important part of higher education system in our country. However, because of the independent colleges usually set up late, the various functions of independent college library still are not perfect. In particular, Literature retrieval course still is not popular. This paper uses contrast experiment on information retrieval behavior, for the Tianjin university renai college as an example, to explore the literature retrieval course whether impact on independent college students' information retrieval behavior. On the basis of the experimental conclusion above, this paper also qualitatively analyses the students' optional task retrieval behavior on the literature retrieval course for the improvement of library services and the reform and further popularization of literature retrieval course. This paper is divided into six parts: The first part is an introduction. It introduces the research background, purpose, meaning, content, methods, structure and innovation of this article. The second part is a literature review. It introduces the present situation of information retrieval behavior research. The third part is a contrast experiment on information retrieval behavior. It introduces the experimental research method, design, object, data analysis methods and tools. The fourth part is the analysis results of the contrast experiment on information retrieval behavior. It analyses the differences between the experimental group students with literature retrieval course and the comparative group without literature retrieval course, and verifies the literature retrieval course whether impacts on independent college students' information retrieval behavior. The fifth part is the qualitative analysis of the independent college students' optional task retrieval behavior. It qualitatively analyses the independent college students' optional task retrieval behavior from six aspects of the theme, background & meaning & content, keywords, retrieval tools, references, PPT production, and draws the conclusion and enlightenment. The sixth part is the conclusion and outlook. The contrast experiment results show that, the information retrieval behavior of the experimental group and the comparative group has significant differences in a simple task, and has differences in a moderately complex task and a complex task. This suggests that the literature retrieval course will impact on independent college students' information retrieval behavior. On the basis of the above conclusion, qualitative analysis shows that, ①Students establish the topics according to the social hot spots, interest, specialty and the existing research subjects; ②Students are not familiar with process and skills of literature retrieval; ③Students rarely use English keywords and English retrieval tools for literature retrieval; ④Students prefer to use the one-stop retrieval tools to achieve variety types of resources; ⑤Students are more willing to use literature from academic periodicals and books as references; ⑥Students have certain ability in PPT production.
