中文摘要: | 在我国这样一个转型经济体下,企业面临的内外部环境不确定性强,而多元化战略对于拓展新的利润来源、降低利润的波动性具有重要意义,所以多元化战略成为很多公司的战略选择之一。为了探析企业多元化战略的动因,现有研究大多基于高层梯队理论,仅仅分析高管团队人口统计学特征与企业多元化战略之间的关系,忽略了高管团队权力的调节作用。因此,本文提出以下两个研究问题:首先,高管团队人口统计学特征如何影响多元化程度?其次,高管团队权力如何调节上述关系? 基于以上研究问题,本文首先界定了核心概念,包括高管团队及其人口统计学特征、权力、多元化程度等;其次,介绍相关基础理论,包括高层梯队理论、资源基础理论、委托代理理论等,并对研究高管团队人口统计学特征与多元化战略、高管团队权力与多元化战略之间关系的文献进行了回顾;最后,本文提出两组研究假设:(一)高管团队人口统计学特征如何影响多元化程度;(二)高管团队权力如何影响高管团队人口统计学特征与多元化程度之间的关系。其中,高管团队人口统计学特征包括高管团队年龄、任期、受教育水平、职能背景。高管团队权力综合了组织性权力、所有制权力、专家权力、声望权力四类权力。本文根据申银万国行业分类标准,选取房地产开发行业上市公司为研究样本,样本数据区间为2008-2011年,采取实证研究的方法,使用SPSS19.0软件进行统计分析。 实证研究结果表明,对于房地产开发行业上市公司而言,高管团队年龄、受教育水平、职能背景均与多元化程度存在显著正相关关系,高管团队任期与多元化程度不存在显著性关系;高管团队权力正向调节高管团队年龄、受教育水平、职能背景与多元化程度的关系。最后,本文从年龄、任期、受教育水平、职能背景、权力5个方面为房地产开发行业上市公司高管团队建设提供了建议,并总结了研究不足,进行了研究展望。 | |
英文摘要: | As in such a transitional country, Chinese companies are faced with a more uncertain external and internal environments. So diversification strategy has become an important strategic choice, become it may help enterprises develop new revenue sources and reduce the volatility of profits. Based on upper echelons theory, many scholars has purely analyzed the relationship between top management team’s demographic characteristics and diversification strategy, but they ignored to add top management team’s power as regulatory variable. So this paper puts forward the following two questions: (a) what’s the relationship between diversification strategy and top management team’s demographic characteristics? (b) How top management team’s power affects the above relationship? Based on the above research questions, firstly, this paper defines the core concepts including top management team, its demographic characteristics, power, and the degree of diversification strategy. Secondly, this paper introduces basic theories including upper echelons theory, resource based theory, principal-agent theory. Then this paper reviews literatures about the relationship between top management team’s demographic characteristics and diversification strategy, top management team’s power and diversification strategy. Finally, two kinds of hypothesis are proposed: (a) how top management team’s demographic characteristics affect the degree of diversification; (b) how top management team’s power affects the relationship between top management team’s demographic characteristics and diversification. Top management team’s demographic characteristics include its age, tenure, educational level and functional background. Top management team’s power includes its structural power, ownership power, expert power and prestige power. According to Shenyinwanguo standard industrial classification, this paper selects Shanghai and Shenzhen listed companies from 2008-2011 in real estate development industry as samples and takes empirical analysis approach. SPSS19.0 software is performed to get the final results. Results show that top management team’s age, educational level, functional background are significantly positive with diversification; top management team’s power plays a positively regulatory role over the relationship between the above top management demographic characteristics and diversification. Top management team’s tenure is not significantly related to diversification. In the end, this paper puts forward five suggestions related to top management team’s age, tenure, educational level, functional background and power for the real estate development industry. Research insufficiency and possible future studies are also mentioned. | |
