| 英文摘要: | Along with economic globalization and regional economic integration trends, the international economic and trade cooperation have unprecedentedly developed. Meanwhile, the Asia Pacific region is increasingly becoming the focus of the world. Both sited in Asia Pacific region, China is now the largest developing country in the world, and Canada is one of the seven traditional industrial powers in the West. Both countries are included in the most important parts of world economy. Since Canada established diplomatic ties with China, bilateral economic and trade cooperation has been in an uptrend with very significant results. However, compared with their respective relationships with other partners, the total amount of economic and trade cooperation between China and Canada is still in a lower level. In fact, China and Canada are highly complementary in natural resources, capital and technology level, economic structure, consumption and other aspects. Thus, the room for economic and trade cooperation development between the two countries is still huge. As for China, it has made remarkable economic development achievements since the reform and opening up, for which the entry of foreign capital has contributed a lot. With the Chinese economy transforms from labor-intensive industries to capital and technology-intensive industries, as well as the upgrade of traditional industries, the industrial distribution of foreign capital will be changed greatly. That means, those Canadian companies which are globally competitive in the mechanical, chemical, aviation, vehicle, energy and financial sectors are strongly needed by China. As for Canada, the economy has depended on the U.S. market too much to survive other huge risks, even though it does benefit from the U.S. market. For example, the 2008 financial crisis originated from the U.S. has become a disaster to the Canadian economy. Apparently, Canada needs to establish more balanced multilateral trade relations with its partners, and China is a good choice. This study is based on the theory of Country Specific Advantages (CSAs) and Firm Specific Advantages (FSAs). First, these two theoretical concepts are defined by Michael E. Porter’s classic theory of national competitiveness (or, say diamond model) and Dunning’s OIL Paradigm (mainly, ownership advantage) theory. Based on this framework, CSAs of Canada, CSAs of China and FSAs of Canadian businesses are comprehensively analyzed. On this basis, this study explores the dynamic interaction between the Sino-Canadian CSAs and its effect on the economic collaboration between the two countries, as well as the dynamic interaction between Chinese CSAs and Canadian business’ FSAs and its impact on Canadian companies’ strategic choice on entry paths to the Chinese market. Entry paths choice, including choices on time, region, industry, investment and operating mode, has critical influences on Canadian companies’ future development in China. Thus, the analysis on the characteristics and general rules for the entry paths of Canadian companies would be great guide and reference to latter Canadian companies which want to enter Chinese market. Finally, the study carries out a case analysis to verify the former theoretical analysis. | |
