With the rapid development of the medical device industry and the continuous introduction of new products, G Healthcare’s Tianjin plant faces significant challenges in safety management, including lagging risk assessment processes, low training transfer effectiveness, and insufficient motivation for continuous improvement. Based on the principles of lean production and safety management theories, this thesis systematically analyzes the root causes of deficiencies in the factory’s safety management processes. The research focuses on three critical processes: New Product Introduction (NPI) safety risk assessment, employee safety training, and continuous safety improvement. Through surveys and case analysis, it was found that these processes exhibit notable shortcomings in terms of intervention timing, tool application, behavioral transformation, and accountability. To address these issues, this thesis proposes lean-based improvement strategies. In the NPI safety risk assessment process, early integration of FMEA, visualization with Hazard Heat Maps (HHM), and multi-layered defense with SODM are adopted to enhance risk identification and ensure closed-loop control. In the training process, experiential learning, mentorship programs, behavior tracking, and performance linkage are introduced to strengthen the transformation of knowledge into safe practices. For continuous improvement, simplified mechanisms, visualized feedback, and incentive systems are applied to foster proactive employee participation and cross-functional collaboration. Process flowcharts before and after improvement are developed, and the effectiveness of the strategies is validated through case implementation. The findings indicate that integrating lean production principles with safety management effectively optimizes factory safety processes, improves employee safety awareness and management efficiency, and achieves a balance between safety and productivity. This thesis not only provides practical guidance for safety management enhancement at G Healthcare Tianjin plant but also offers valuable insights for safety process optimization in the broader medical device manufacturing industry.
