| 英文摘要: | As a new collaborative model within China's scientific and technological innovation system, enterprise-led innovation consortia have become a crucial vehicle for breaking through key technological bottlenecks and fostering deep integration between industrial and innovation chains. Collaborative innovation is the primary pathway for enterprises to participate in the construction of innovation consortia. However, statistical research reveals that current collaborative innovation practices among Chinese enterprises face numerous barriers, including insufficient internal motivation for collaborative R&D, a lack of diversity among collaborative innovation entities, and localized collaboration spaces. To clarify the underlying causes of weak collaborative innovation at the micro-enterprise level, this study, based on the knowledge base perspective, reveals the impact of vertical historical differences and horizontal industry differences formed during the dynamic evolution of enterprise knowledge bases on micro-enterprise collaborative innovation. It further explores this impact in detail from multiple dimensions, including partner characteristics (quantity, diversity of organizational types, geographic distance) and collaborative innovation outcomes (quantity, quality). Additionally, considering the leading role of enterprises and the guiding role of governments in the construction of innovation consortia, this study distinguishes between formal and informal innovation appropriation mechanisms, digitalization efforts of enterprises and governments, corporate culture, and regional marketization levels from the "enterprise-government" dimension to explore the boundary conditions and contextual mechanisms through which knowledge base differences affect collaborative innovation. Using A-share listed companies on the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges from 2000 to 2022 as the research sample, this study reflects enterprise collaborative innovation through jointly applied patent data. By employing Python programs for text semantic analysis and Baidu Map web scraping, basic information such as organizational types and geographic coordinates of patent applicants was extracted to obtain the necessary data. Through empirical methods such as OLS regression and instrumental variable regression, the following conclusions were drawn: First, under the influence of innovation appropriation motives, historical knowledge base differences compared to past time points inhibit the scale of partners, reduce the diversity of partner organizational types, and hinder the establishment of long-distance partnerships. This inhibitory effect is more pronounced in non-highly competitive markets and high-tech enterprises. Furthermore, both formal innovation appropriation mechanisms, such as intellectual property protection levels, and informal internal mechanisms weaken the negative impact of historical knowledge base differences on the quantity and diversity of collaborative innovation partners. However, novel knowledge elements, as a significant manifestation of historical knowledge base differences, strengthen the appropriation expectations of new knowledge elements, leading enterprises to actively reduce the quantity and diversity of partners. Second, under the premise of "bounded rationality" of external partners, industry knowledge base differences compared to industry prototypes also inhibit the scale of partners, reduce the diversity of partner organizational types, and hinder the establishment of long-distance partnerships. However, this inhibitory effect is alleviated in highly competitive markets and high-tech enterprises. Mechanism analysis shows that the degree of technological dynamism in the industry can relax external partners' reliance on industry-average knowledge levels, mitigating the inhibitory effect of industry knowledge base differences on partner quantity and diversity. However, enterprise age strengthens the industry identity formed by external partners, thereby enhancing the negative impact of industry knowledge base differences on partner quantity and diversity. Additionally, both enterprise digitalization levels and local government attention to the digital economy can promote the expansion of partner quantity, diversity, and cross-regional collaborative innovation under conditions of industry knowledge base differentiation. Finally, unilateral differences in enterprise knowledge bases in either the historical or industry dimension inhibit collaborative innovation performance, primarily by reducing the quantity and quality of collaborative innovation. However, simultaneous evolutionary deviations in both historical and industry dimensions of the knowledge base promote collaborative innovation performance between enterprises and other organizations. Mediation mechanism tests reveal that both historical and industry knowledge base differences negatively affect collaborative innovation performance by reducing the quantity of external partners, lowering the diversity of partner organizational types, and decreasing long-distance partnerships. Moderating mechanism analysis indicates that corporate collaboration culture positively moderates the relationship between historical-industry knowledge base differences and collaborative innovation performance by fostering an open, cooperative, and sharing-oriented innovation atmosphere. Regional marketization levels also mitigate the negative impact of historical-industry knowledge base differences on collaborative innovation performance by improving regional information environments and accelerating technological innovation frequency. This study, grounded in the positive significance of innovation consortia in achieving major national technological breakthroughs and promoting deep integration of industrial and innovation chains, identifies the practical bottlenecks faced by current enterprise collaborative innovation. From the perspective of knowledge base dynamic evolution, it reveals the deep-seated causes and mechanisms affecting weak enterprise collaborative innovation. The theoretical contribution lies in constructing a relationship model between enterprise knowledge base differences and collaborative innovation from a dynamic evolution perspective, breaking through the static matching logic between enterprise knowledge base structural characteristics and collaborative innovation, and enriching the causal understanding of knowledge base differences and collaborative innovation. The findings provide theoretical guidance for enterprises to better integrate into open innovation networks, establish broader collaborative innovation partnerships, and achieve higher collaborative innovation performance. They also offer empirical references for local governments to stimulate enterprises' autonomous collaborative innovation intentions, optimize intellectual property protection policies, and promote enterprise open innovation through regional digital economy construction. | |
