In today's China, where automobile production is growing steadily, renovation and expansion projects in auto factories are becoming increasingly common, with more and more such projects being initiated and implemented. Compared to new construction projects, renovation and expansion projects have their unique characteristics, but they also share many commonalities that often pose challenges during implementation, placing higher demands on designers. In the current development environment, design quality management faces unprecedented pressure. How to ensure the standardized operation of the design process, effectively address the design adjustment needs arising from renovation and expansion projects, and achieve steady improvement in quality control has become a core issue that urgently needs to be addressed in this field. This thesis addresses this issue by integrating the theories and practices of design quality management, selecting A Design Institute, a leader in automotive factory engineering design, and several automotive factory renovation and expansion projects in which the author participated as research subjects. First, it introduces the overview of A Design Institute and its leading position in the field of automotive factory design, elaborating on its experience and advantages in automotive factory renovation and expansion projects. Subsequently, it delves into the characteristics and challenges of renovation and expansion projects, as well as how these characteristics and challenges pose new challenges to design quality management. Next, using specific cases from A Design Institute, it analyzes the application of design quality management in actual projects, including management strategies, process improvements, and technical measures. The thesis evaluates the implementation effects of these measures, analyzes their impact on improving design quality, and examines their influence on design efficiency and cost control, while summarizing the issues present in design quality management. The study employs causal analysis to qualitatively investigate the correlation between the 4M1E elements and design quality, and analyzes the causes of problems. Based on A Design Institute's practical experience with automotive factory renovation and expansion projects, it systematically collects data on quality issues for quantitative research, precisely quantifying the impact strength of each element on quality indicators, and identifies core elements that require focused monitoring in quality management. Innovatively, the study combines the PDCA cycle theory to develop an optimized quality management plan around the 4M1E framework. Finally, to ensure the smooth implementation of the plan, this thesis proposes a series of implementation and safeguard measures. The implementation part includes three stages: the first stage is reaching consensus with relevant parties; the second stage involves learning methods and strategies; the third stage focuses on control and adjustment. In terms of safeguard measures, they cover organization, systems, monitoring, risk management, and improvement. By integrating theory and practice, combined with in-depth analysis and quantitative research based on actual engineering cases from A Design Institute, this thesis systematically summarizes the practical achievements and existing challenges in design quality control for renovation and expansion projects. It also formulates specialized optimization plans and implementation safeguards, effectively enhancing the design quality management level of automotive factory renovation and expansion projects. This provides new ideas for improving the design quality management system of automotive factory renovation and expansion projects and offers replicable solutions.
