Against the background of economic globalization, the supply chain management of the automobile manufacturing industry is undergoing profound changes. As a company engaged in the research and development, production, sales and service of traditional fuel vehicles and new energy vehicles, Company G faces the dual challenges of controlling costs and improving market responsiveness. To meet these challenges, Company G has adopted a supplier localization strategy, i.e., encouraging and supporting existing suppliers to set up new production bases in the region where Company G is located, in order to achieve geographical proximity in the supply chain links of raw material procurement, parts manufacturing, logistics and distribution. This strategy aims to improve Company G's market competitiveness and economic efficiency by reducing logistics costs, improving supply chain responsiveness and flexibility, and promoting integration with the local economy. This study focuses on the supplier localization strategy of Company G. Through an in-depth analysis of its supply chain management system and procurement status quo, the feasibility and challenges of localization are assessed. Through field interviews and rooted theory coding analysis, key factors affecting supplier localization, such as cost effectiveness, market demand, and policy environment, were identified. To systematically assess the appropriateness of supplier localization, the study constructed a comprehensive evaluation index system covering multiple dimensions such as start-up costs, market demand, labor costs, transportation costs, government policies, and environmental impacts. The weights of each evaluation index were determined using the AHP, and the localization suitability of suppliers was quantitatively evaluated using the TOPSIS method. The results show that government policy is the most critical factor driving supplier localization, followed by start-up costs and market demand. Company G should strengthen cooperation with the government for preferential policies, and optimize the procurement process and supplier management to reduce localization costs. In addition, Company G needs to focus on environmental responsibility and risk management to ensure the sustainability of the supply chain. By implementing the strategies suggested in this study, Company G is expected to improve the stability and market competitiveness of its supply chain while promoting the development of the local economy. Based on the assessment results, the study proposes a series of safeguards, including government policy safeguards, technical support safeguards, environmental liability safeguards and risk management safeguards, to promote the establishment of suppliers' production bases in the region where Company G is located. These measures aim to reduce suppliers' operating costs and improve the stability and responsiveness of the supply chain, while promoting local economic development and realizing a win-win situation for both the enterprise and the region.
