中文摘要：	公共图书馆在民众认识中到底是何种形象因数据采集的庞大难以得到具体的描述，但是，在媒体高度发展的今天，各种报刊数据库的建立，使得研究平面媒体中有关图书馆的报道具有了现实的可能性。大众传媒对于社会生活的再现与建构并不是单一的，而是充满了各种选择。在这些不同的选择所形成的报道中，公共图书馆的形象被有意或无意的进行了建构和传播。 本研究的目的在于通过对晚报媒体报道中有关公共图书馆的内容的研究，以期描述出晚报媒体中所传播的公共图书馆形象，并初步探讨其形成的原因，为公共图书馆的形象建设提供一定的支持。 本研究选择贴近生活、内容丰富的晚报媒体作为主要的目标样本，选取我国四个直辖市和东西部具有代表性的城市（苏州市、兰州市）的晚报电子版作为样本库，分别为《今晚报》、《北京晚报》、《新民晚报》（上海市）、《重庆晚报》、《姑苏晚报》（苏州市）、《兰州晚报》。在这些晚报媒体中，经过抽样得到与公共图书馆相关的报道，对这些报道进行分析。 本研究所使用的研究方法主要为内容分析法，并辅助以梵•迪克的话语分析方法。利用内容分析方法，对于采集所得的180份数据以不同类目进行分析，之后选择样本中较有代表性的报道进行话语分析，研究发现我国晚报媒体报道中的公共图书馆形象存在地区差异，媒体中普遍存在对公共图书馆形象的预设，在报道中公共图书馆形象呈矛盾式地发展，而公共图书馆员的形象在报道中缺失，有推广价值、有争议性的内容为报道的重点所在。针对在研究中所发现的问题，本文提出了面向公共图书馆形象建设的建议与对策。 本研究的创新点有两个方面，首先将传播学与图书馆学研究相结合，从媒体传播的角度研究公共图书馆形象，其次采用内容分析法对晚报媒体中有关公共图书馆的报道进行定量分析，同时辅以定性的话语分析，拓展了公共图书馆形象的研究的空间。
英文摘要：	It is hardly to specifically describe the image of public library in common people understanding because of large amounts of data acquisition. Along with the development of media and the establishment of database, it is possible to research on the reports about public library in the print media. For the public media, reproduction and construction of the social life is variable, and there are many choices. Among these reports in different options, the image of public libraries has been intentionally or unintentionally constructed and disseminated. The aim of this study is to describe the image of the public library by studying the reports in the Evening News which is about the public library, and briefly discuss the reason to provide a support to the image building of the public library. The study chooses the Evening News as a major goal of media samples, which includes a lot of information and closes to the people's daily life. The electronic version of the Evening News of the four Municipalities and some east-west representative cities (Suzhou City, Lanzhou City) are chosen as a sample database. There are Evening News (Tianjin), Beijing Evening News, Xinmin Evening News (Shanghai), Chongqing Evening News, Gusu Evening News (Suzhou) Lanzhou Evening News. The reports about public library are selected as samples to be analyzed. The Content analysis is applied as the main study method, assisted with the Discourse analysis of Van Dijk. The Content analysis is used in this study to analyze all the 180 collections of data divided into different categories, and then some more representative reports of the samples are chosen to be given Discourse analysis. The result of the study shows that regional disparities of the image of public library exists among different Evening News in our country, and the image of the public library is often defaulted and often paradoxically grows in the Evening News; while the absence of the image of the public librarians and the controversial content that is worthy to be promoted are the key point in the Evening News reports. Some advices are given in this paper according to the problem found in the study. There are two innovation points in the study. Firstly, Communication Science is combined with Library Science to study the image of the public libraries. Secondly, the Content analysis, assisted with qualitative Discourse analysis, is used to quantitatively analyze the reports about the public library in the Evening News, which extends the image of public libraries research.
