Host: Department of Information Resources Management
Topic：Being Prepared for Technological Change: The Need for Carefully Designed Information Systems Change Management
Lecturer：Prof. José Miguel Baptista Nunes (Dean of Information Mangement School, Sun-Yat-sen University)
This seminar module aims at examining and exploring how organizations and human activity systems cope with change due to the new implementation or updating of Information Systems (IS). This change occurs in complex social environments and has cultural, political, structural and ethical impacts that need to be carefully managed.
The seminar will examine and explore how both managers and IS practitioners can be better prepared for the unpredictability, unintended outcomes and possible harmful consequences of change caused by the introduction or update of Information Systems. Therefore, the seminar aims at providing an understanding of both approaches and techniques for the managing of this change and pays particular attention to the role of the Information Systems project managers and practitioners in the change management process.
