Key National Discipline¡ªBusiness Administration

Training Mode
¡¡¡¡In 1980, Nankai University, rebuilt the discipline of Business Administration firstly in China. In 1986, Business School established the first domestic doctorate degree in Business Administration. In 1993, the discipline of Business Administration was appraised as Tianjin key discipline, and was awarded the national key discipline in 2002. At present, the subject has over 54 full-time teachers, including 28 professors and 26 associate professors.
¡¡¡¡Since the subject became the national key discipline, more than 300 academic articles have been published home and abroad, as well as over 70 academic works have been issued, with over 40 achievements awarded of Sun Yefang Economic Science Awards, Ministry of humanities and social sciences award for outstanding achievements including the national and provincial-level incentives; National Natural Science Foundation project, Ministry of philosophy and social sciences projects The researching projects are more than 30 in the process of research supported by the National Natural Science Fund.
The department of Business Administration has committed more than 100 provincial-and ministerial-level research projects and horizontal research projects, and the average annual research funds could be reach to more than RMB5 million.
¡¡¡¡After integration, the discipline has established a dozen of researching subjects, such as corporate governance, the virtual economy and management, strategic management, service management, Enterprise Growth and Venture Management, the company's financial management, marketing, human resource management and development, network organization, management control system, the enterprise culture and the competitiveness, enterprises acquisition, project management, logistics and supply chain management, etc., which forms the sound developing trends and advantages of combination with the subjects of economics, management science and engineering, information technology and other cross-disciplinary.
The Teaching Staff
¡¡¡¡Under the basis of pioneering work conducted by the older generations of discipline leaders, such as Mr. Bingfu Chen and Mr. Longgao Zhang, the cores of the youth continue to grow and form a rational structure of teaching team with a rigorous study attitude. The number of the existing teachers in this subject amounts to 52. Among them, 31 teachers have doctorate degrees, and 45 teachers are under the age of 39.
¡¡¡¡Teachers in Business School seek for the truth which has been highly appraised by the experts. The assessment panel for Undergraduate Teaching says, ¡°Teachers in Business School love their jobs, devote themselves to their work which has become a common practice.¡± The opinion of MBA teaching qualified assessment panel is that ¡°Many teachers have international studies background, overall structure is good; teachers are dedicated, full of cohesion; MBA students overall have high qualities, and show a strong team spirit."
Developing Features
¡¡¡¡The former department of Business Administration is the department of Management. Currently, the research teams, focusing on the organization and strategy, business management, project management, service management, technical economics and innovation management, knowledge management, management education and other fields, take on more than 20 longitudinal studies supported by the National Natural Science Fund, State Social Science Fund, and the Ministry of Education Humanities and Social Science Fund. Among them, the subjects of management for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises and enterprise growth have been included in the ¡°211 Project¡± and the research programs of ¡°Education Innovation Bases¡± by the Ministry of Education. Meanwhile, the department of Business Administration, facing to the businesses, bears a great deal of management consulting and training programs, and cultivates a large number of high-level talents for the management education in China as well as for the economic construction and development.
